Yerba Buena Island Bicycle/Pedestrian Touchdown and Vista Point

This recently celebrated project includes a new Vista Point on Yerba Buena Island (YBI) that connects to the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge (SFOBB) East Span Bicycle/Pedestrian path. This beautiful Vista Point includes ADA ramps, staircase, fencing, restrooms, hydration station, bicycle racks, benches, interpretive signs, landscaping, and drainage improvements - and offers spectacular views. The project also includes bicycle/pedestrian path improvements, a shuttle stop, and significant directional signage from the Oakland staging parking lot to YBI.

WMH was selected by MTC/BATA to lead and prepare preliminary engineering, environmental approval documents, final design PS&E, and construction support. The project's success was a product of coordination with BATA, SFCTA, Caltrans, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, Bike East Bay, and the US Coast Guard.

WMH also prepared the overall YBI master plan for bicycle and pedestrian facilities. This plan includes bicycle/pedestrian facilities that encircle the entire island, as well as tie into the new Bay Bridge East Span and proposed Bay Bridge West span bicycle/pedestrian paths.
