I-880 Southbound HOV Widening - Marina Blvd. to Davis St.

I-880 Southbound HOV Widening Project proposes to widen 1.5 miles of southbound I-880 to extend the HOV lane from just south of Marina Boulevard to just north of Davis Street in the City of San Leandro. The project includes reconstruction of the Marina Boulevard and Davis Street interchanges with each overcrossing raised approximately 8 feet to provide standard vertical clearance over I-880 lanes. The project also includes two bridge replacements, 2,800 feet of retaining walls, ramp metering, signal, lighting and TOS improvements, utility relocations, right-of-way engineering, and street improvements.

PS&E and right-of-way engineering was completed in 18 months and delivered within budget to meet CMIA funding deadlines and included preparation of over 550 plan sheets. The WMH team optimized preliminary design prepared by others to minimize environmental and construction impacts, and eliminate throwaway costs for future interchange improvements. Complex stage construction and traffic handling plans were developed in a heavily trafficked, and physically constrained site.
