Larkspur, CA

North-South Greenway Gap Closure Project

The project proposes improvements to pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Old Redwood Highway and on the northbound Highway 101 (US 101) Corte Madera Creek Bridge off-ramp to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard (northbound off-ramp structure) in the City of Larkspur. The improvements include the construction of a new Class I multi-use path and sidewalks to connect the recently completed Central Marin Ferry Connector (CMFC) that crosses Sir Francis Drake Blvd at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal with the existing Greenbrae Pedestrian Overcrossing (POC) that crosses US 101 near Industrial Way.

The Class I multi-use path is comprised of a new bridge (constructed on the existing off-ramp bridge bents) adjacent to the existing northbound off-ramp structure with surface improvements at the new structure approaches and along Old Redwood Highway. The 12-foot wide path will run across the new structure and along the west (southbound) side of Old Redwood Highway. An easterly shift of the existing street parking and restriping of Old Redwood Highway will maintain the 11-foot wide motor vehicle travel lanes, while construction of crosswalks and bicycle ramps at the Rich Street/Old Redwood Highway intersection will facilitate pedestrian and bicycle connections.
