I-880 / Broadway-Jackson Interchange

To improve access and circulation between I-880, I-980, Posey and Webster Tubes, and local Oakland streets, the purpose of this project was to develop a set of feasible alternatives that could be constructed using a phased approach, consistent with available funding. To achieve this, WMH's tasks included: re-evaluating previously developed alternatives; community outreach; and development of Complete Street Concepts for Chinatown streets, including 6th Street assuming the NB Broadway off-ramp was removed or relocated. Extensive coordination with Oakland Chinatown Coalition (OCAC, Chamber of Commerce and Asian Health Services) led to concepts that were supported by almost all participants. Coordination also included Jack London District Association and the City of Oakland's Lake Merritt Station Area Plan.
