CCTA Priority Project SR 4 Widening Begins Construction

Today, WMH, local dignitaries, and officials celebrated the Groundbreaking of the project at Sheraton Hotel Sunnyvale. In attendance from WMH were CEO and Principal-in-Charge, William Hadaya and Project Manager, Tim Lee. William noted: "It gives our engineers great pleasure to see their designs coming to life, it takes years of hard work from all involved to achieve this significant milestone. Congrats on a job well done!"

WMH was selected by CCTA to lead the environmental reevaluation and final design services to deliver the project for advertisement under an accelerated schedule to meet funding deadlines. CCTA is administering the construction phase and WMH is providing design support during construction. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2020.

The proposed improvements include freeway widening, new auxiliary lanes; ramp modifications; widening of 5 bridge crossings; replacement of Grayson Creek Bridge; retaining walls; utility relocations; drainage facilities; overhead sign structures; safety lighting; and traffic operations system (TOS) upgrades.

The official groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 24, 2019 on the north side of the Martinez-Benicia Bridge toll plaza and was well attended by dignitaries and official representatives of CCTA.
